The techniques that you learn in the Color-Based English Mastery program can apply to any level that you teach. You can teach as a volunteer, to earn money while traveling, in the Peace Corps, as a 9-month English teacher, and other situations. You can teach one-on-one, a small group class, an elementary class, middle school, high school, college prep, university entrance, tourism English, or conversational speech. The Color-Based English Mastery program is based on the approach to teaching and is applicable to whatever materials or text you use. Lesson Two: An overall view of the Color-Based English Mastery programIn order to teach competently and successfully with your students, your lessons will need to be fun and organized. You receive an overall view of the techniques of the Color-Based English Mastery program. This includes organizing lessons with objectives, pre-class exercises, and evaluations. Lesson techniques include how to teach pronunciation, select vocabulary, present the vocabulary using color and art, and create appropriate dialogs. Techniques include how to teach with color-based parts of speech, songs, art, games, and writing. Lesson Three: A sample beginning lesson using the Color-Based English Mastery programMany of the techniques of the Color-Based English Mastery program are demonstrated in this sample lesson. You will learn how to teach nine color words in sentences followed with a dialog. You write the words in colors for the parts of speech. You will learn how to respell the words with our unique Easy English Spelling System that helps students with pronunciation. There is one spelling for each vowel sound and each consonant sound with computer-friendly spellings. You will learn "The Color Song" and fill in a crossword puzzle. Lesson Four: Parts of Speech in ColorFor learners to gain fluency and understanding of a foreign language, it is critical that they understand the corresponding parts of speech of the target language (American English) and the learner's native language. The learners translate the vocabulary, but they also need to understand the relationship of the words in phrases and sentences. The lessons expand on the traditional basic noun phrase and prepositional phrase using related colors for each group. The verb phrase is uniquely described in the Color-Based English Mastery program. The Verb Phrase includes the meaning of the verb, the subject, the time, and adverbs. Relating the time signals in English to the time signals in the native language of the learners is key to comprehension. Songs are a big part of learning the natural way of asking questions and answering them using different tenses. Lesson Five: Games and Learning a Language with the Color-Based English Mastery programThe challenge of matching, combining forms correctly, and making practice fun come together in games. Grammar games, bingo games, Hangman and puzzles all contribute to the fun of learning. Games provide opportunities for repetitive but challenging and correct practice. This session has a demonstration lesson for using games to teach grammar, practice it, and give feedback to students and to yourself as a teacher. Lesson Six: Songs and Learning a Language with the Color-Based English Mastery programSongs are a very important part of learning in the Color-Based English Mastery program. You learn a number of songs to understand the importance of music to reinforce the grammar and vocabulary that you teach. You don't have to be a professional to use music in your classes. Lesson Seven: Writing is used throughout the classes. It begins with copying using different color markers for the function of each word. A writing lesson will demonstrate the importance of controlled practice to give immediate feedback to students. Wrong practice leads to many problems later on. Creating exercises for writing, that reflect the material you are teaching, lead your students into self-expression.
