Level Three Of The Dee Brightman's Online TEFL Academy Is For Teachers Who Want To Create A Successful ESL Career Either In The USA or Internationally

SEEKING A SUCCESSFUL ESL CAREER?  Do You Want to Teach English Confidently, Make Friends, and/or Make Money? You CAN prepare yourself. This course will give you the materials you need to teach English while abroad. We will use email to send you your course materials and you submit your lessons weekly by email. In addition you will be videotaping 6 lessons (on CDs) which you will teach. You will return these tapes to us by email or by mail.  You will receive the following lessons.

Level Three TEFL Certificate Course

Level Three focuses on advanced pronunciation, guided pattern writing, and advanced grammar. In this Level you will learn how to organize new material, how to use this system with any textbook or other material such as realia and children's books. Because it includes PRACTICE TEACHING AND VIDEO TAPING OF CLASSES.   You will learn how to model what you mean, to make the material meaningful to students by calling upon past experience and learning of the students. Because this system is so powerful you can incorporate experiences and other cultural aspects as a part of a learning experience. You learn how to build community. You will learn how to set realistic learning goals for your students.

This course requires approximately 40 hours of study, lesson planning, teaching and reflection. It is open to anyone who has successfully completed our introductory course and who has completed all or part of our Certificate in TEFL course. It is intended for people who want to obtain really practical training in planning and teaching EFL lessons and to receive full TEFL certification. (Some of the best employers do not recognize TEFL certificate courses that do not include practice teaching.)

Participants are required to plan and videotape six lessons given to classes of EFL students and to submit the plans and tapes for critiquing and evaluation. People who are currently teaching EFL can use their existing classes for practice teaching purposes. Other people have to arrange to teach (perhaps on a volunteer basis) six hours of EFL classes over a period of several weeks. The content of some of the lessons is specified by Dee Brightman's Online TEFL Academy.

Participants are given assistance with lesson planning and receive detailed feedback on each lesson before they begin planning their next lesson.

When you complete your course, you will receive the Dee Brightman's Online TEFL Academy Certificate in TEFL with Practice Teaching. (The course includes six hours of evaluated practice, which is the same amount as required by other full TEFL certificate courses, such as the Cambridge CELTA and the Trinity College TESOL.)

You will also receive a personal letter of reference from Dee Brightman. The certificate and the reference will enable you to compete successfully for jobs with employers who require full TEFL certification.

After your course, you will receive personalized job counseling and guidance from Dee Brightman for as long as you need it.

Course Fee: US $325.00

Lesson One: Advanced Planning your approach to teaching when going abroad

There are several aspects to deciding where and how to teach when you travel abroad. The techniques that you learn in the Color-Based English Mastery program can apply to any level that you teach. You can teach as a volunteer, to earn money while traveling, in the Peace Corps, as a 9-month English teacher, and other situations. You can teach one-on-one, a small group class, an elementary class, middle school, high school, college prep, university entrance, tourism English, or conversational speech. The Color-Based English Mastery program is based on the approach to teaching and is applicable to whatever materials or text you use. Your training will be based on what you decide to do and the materials you plan to use.

Lesson Two: Advanced Study Of the Color-Based English Mastery program

In order to teach competently and successfully with your students, your lessons will need to be fun and organized. You receive an overall view of the techniques of the Color-Based English Mastery program. This includes organizing lessons with objectives, pre-class exercises, and evaluations. Lesson techniques include how to teach pronunciation, select vocabulary, present the vocabulary using color and art, and create appropriate dialogs. Techniques include how to teach with color-based parts of speech, songs, art, games, and writing.

Your Project: Prepare a Report Of The Difference Between this Method and Conventional ESL Learning Programs

Lesson Three: A sample Multifaceted lesson using the Color-Based English Mastery program

Many of the techniques of the Color-Based English Mastery program are demonstrated in this sample lesson. You will learn how to teach nine color words in sentences followed with a dialog. You write the words in colors for the parts of speech. You will learn how to respell the words with our unique Easy English Spelling System that helps students with pronunciation. There is one spelling for each vowel sound and each consonant sound with computer-friendly spellings. You will learn "The Color Song" and fill in a crossword puzzle.

Lesson Four: Parts of Speech in Color

For learners to gain fluency and understanding of a foreign language, it is critical that they understand the corresponding parts of speech of the target language (American English) and the learner's native language. The learners translate the vocabulary, but they also need to understand the relationship of the words in phrases and sentences. The lessons expand on the traditional basic noun phrase and prepositional phrase using related colors for each group. The verb phrase is uniquely described in the Color-Based English Mastery program. The Verb Phrase includes the meaning of the verb, the subject, the time, and adverbs. Relating the time signals in English to the time signals in the native language of the learners is key to comprehension. Songs are a big part of learning the natural way of asking questions and answering them using different tenses.

Lesson Five: Games and Learning a Language with the Color-Based English Mastery program

The challenge of matching, combining forms correctly, and making practice fun come together in games. Grammar games, bingo games, Hangman and puzzles all contribute to the fun of learning. Games provide opportunities for repetitive but challenging and correct practice. This session has a demonstration lesson for using games to teach grammar, practice it, and give feedback to students and to yourself as a teacher.

Lesson Six: Songs and Learning a Language with the Color-Based English Mastery program

Songs are a very important part of learning in the Color-Based English Mastery program. You learn a number of songs to understand the importance of music to reinforce the grammar and vocabulary that you teach. You don't have to be a professional to use music in your classes.

Lesson Seven: Writing is used throughout the classes.

It begins with copying using different color markers for the function of each word. A writing lesson will demonstrate the importance of controlled practice to give immediate feedback to students. Wrong practice leads to many problems later on. Creating exercises for writing, that reflect the material you are teaching, lead your students into self-expression.
