FOR THE POOR CHILDREN OF LATIN AMERICA - SOCCER IS THE CUP OF HOPE

YOU ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN THE UNIVERSE

You are the most important person in the Universe. You have a speaking acquaintance with at least 250 people. You influence those 250 people in more ways than you can imagine. One small rock thrown into a pond sends ripples to every part of the Pond. So too do the ripples you send out into your pool of 250 people, by word, thought and deed.

Every night when we sleep we cross a great river. On the shore there is pool of clear sparkling water. We each have one cup. We reach into the pool and bring out one cup of water. Then we return and wake up.

Now the cup of water - the cup of hope is in our hand. The cup of hope contains our dreams, our hopes for the future, our goals we want to achieve, the ideas we would like to express We have options - the freedom to choose what we do with the cup.

What Will You Do With Your Cup Of Hope?

person will drink the cup of hope themselves immediately and that is the end of it. They have enough hope to make it through the day.

Another person will brutally steal from others their cup of hope and drink it and smash the cup of the weak. The weak person lives without hope that day. If the cup is taken from them and smashed enough, the day comes when they are cross the river at night but have no cup in which to bring back their hope. They are broken, destroyed.

Finally a rare kind of person will give their cup of hope to the first person they see - a person who is lonely, alone, hurt, afraid, a person in need of help. To their surprise the cup is instantly refilled. And they fill refreshed as though they had drunk their full This unusual person then goes throughout the day giving away the cup, over and over again. And every time they drink they are filled and refreshed and made more complete. This is a caring compassionate person. A Giver of the Cup of Hope.

Will You Help Us Give The Cup Of Hope?

How do you give the cup of hope to those in need? You say a kind word. You give a touch of encouragement. You smile with your eyes. You give eye contact. You offer to carry their bags. You help them cross the street. You help them when they do not understand. you volunteer at a food bank. You serve in your church. You work in your club or social group. You collect food for the needy,

Giving The Cup of Hope Makes You Whole

Jesus said, if you do this for the least of them, you do if unto me. But I say, when you give the cup of hope to others, You give it unto Jesus, the Compassionate one Most of all you give to yourself. And you are refreshed, filled and made complete.

I WOULD LIKE TO INVITE YOU TO SHARE YOUR CUP OF HOPE WITH THE CHILDREN OF HONDURAS WHOSE CUP NEVER BEEN FILLED.

There are many children in Intibuca who never know the love or caring of an adult. Some of them actually live on the streets. Others live in adobe huts in the cold mountains on small farms. Others live in the city of La Esperanza in poor neighborhoods.

Honduras is a country where family is everything. If the child does not belong to a family that cares, they have no one. No one to talk to. No one to cover them at night. No one who wants them around. People's social life is deeply involved with the family, sisters, brother, fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins. If you do not have any of these, you have no one. No one to visit. No one to play with. No one to take you to the doctor if you are sick.

Without family, you are no one and no one cares what happens to you. That is why the street children problem is so deep and profound. As a person says, "I don't know his family so I cannot trust him. I don't know that person because I do not know his or her family. How can I know who they are?"

Without a strong family, there is no hope. THE EXCEPTION IS if they are playing soccer. If they are a soccer player in the Liga Menor de Fútbol Intibucana, caring adult volunteer coaches will pay attention to them. Dr. Sorto, president of the Liga Menor and Dr. Argueta, vice president of the Liga Menor will provide the young person with low cost  medical care, nutritional supplements and most importantly ATTENTION. Coaches and leaders of the Liga Menor will learn their name, learn about them, help them learn, talk individually with them and actually care about them. For the street children and poor children of Intibuca, SOCCER IS THE CUP OF HOPE.

HELP US GIVE THE SOCCER CUP OF HOPE TO THE

CHILDREN OF INTIBUCA.

Soccer for Life and the Liga Menor is dedicated to these children of Intibuca. We want to build a center for street and poor children in the Indian community of La Esperanza, Honduras. We want to build dormitories for the children living in the streets, a soccer stadium, a soccer academy for teaching soccer to these poor children. The Intibuca Youth Soccer Center is being developed by the Liga Menor de Futbol Intibucana and Soccer for Life, Inc. to be a place where the Cup Of Hope will be available everyday.  We hope to establish a food program for young soccer players, many of whom get only one meal a day and that is tortilla and maybe a little beans.
