The Adopt A Soccer Team Program is designed to provide opportunities for service for youth groups, soccer clubs, soccer associations, soccer teams and others to share with kids in Honduras who would love to play soccer but do not have the resources.
We are seeking to find soccer teams in the USA to adopt soccer teams in Intibuca.
North American soccer youth, soccer clubs and soccer teams. You are invited to create a long term relationship with a team in the Liga Menor de Futbol Intibucana. The Liga Menor de Futbol is located in the cool high mountain pine forest of Intibuca. It is a clean, high mountain village free from gangs and filled with kids whose only passion is soccer. They play it in the streets. They play it on the fields. And they want to play it with you.
You are invited to "Adopt A Soccer Team Program i". What does it mean? That means you become part of a cross-country Soccer Community. It means your team will come to Intibuca and play in the annual Torneo Internacional Intibucana. It means your team will share its old soccer gear, nets, balls with your team in the Liga Menor. That means you create long term friendships with the players on your team. It means you learn enough Spanish to communicate with your team. It means you write letters to your team members. (The Liga Menor will translate the letter for you). It means you exchange photographs with your adopted team.
It means you hold a cleat drive in your community at least once a year to collected used soccer gear for your team. It means you get a t shirt with the name and logo of your team to take home. It means you stay in the home of your team members when you come to Honduras. It means you bring at least one gift for a member of your team when you come. It means you email your team members. It means you learn something about the culture of the Lenca Indians of Intibuca. It means you learn how to interact with someone of another culture.
It means you hold a fund raiser, a car wash to raise money for your team to provide water for your team during its games. It means raising money for snacks during the game. It means raising money to buy them a goal net, practice pinnies and cones.
Below are two boys team who need to be adopted so they can get the resources they need to play. Each child needs $5 per player to get the carnet from FENAFUTH so they can play as well as uniform, cleats, shin guards, socks and at least one good ball.

Presently there are 450 boys playing in the Liga Menor. The per capita income in Honduras is around $600 per year. There is no way the average person in Honduras can afford to buy soccer uniforms, boots, shin guards, socks. There is presently no way to provide water for games. There are no soccer moms bringing treats after each game.
