

Soccer Is The World's Most Important Game
Soccer, or fútbol as
it is known around the world, is the world's most important game.
It is played by more people
than any other
sport in the world. When this year's World Cup is played,
there will be over 34 billion viewings of soccer. That's a
powerful marketplace.
There is a great desire to develop soccer in North America. This leads to a profit opportunity for many countries to develop international soccer camps. Such camps, if well organized with a predictable training system, could attract international and North American youth. This would provide needed foreign exchange and facilitate ISAI's goal of developing soccer as the World Interface Language. The Soccer Camp Turnkey System of ISAI provides a complete structure and predictable learning program that would be acceptable to North Americans and internationals.
Soccer is a very beautiful sport to watch,
especially in soccer countries. The crowds sway with the
swinging banners of their chosen team. Flags of the team fill the
stands along with banners held by happy fans. The stands
are colored with the fans wearing team jerseys in the team
color. Music plays, people can be heard singing the team
song over and over again. People stand, jump up and down in
rhythm constantly. Indeed the fans are in good physical
condition.
The people who go to a soccer game are deeply involved with their teams. They define themselves as being an Arsenal fan, for example. It's a joy to attend and be a part of this great interactive sport. Fans love the sponsors of this game to which they are devoted. As a result, soccer fans are remarkably loyal to the people who make their game possible.
The Soccer Investment and Marketing Center is a key component of the International Institute of Soccer Tourism (a joint venture of ISAI and the Compañia de Deportes Y Turismo, S de RL). We believe that this wonderful game should become an important part of Western Hemisphere life. It is already all important in South America, Central America and the Caribbean Island countries. I recently watched the Gold Cup on TV. I noticed only a few people watching this world class game. Why? I think it's because in Latin America, soccer is the only game in town. If you want to go out with your family to enjoy a sport, soccer is what you have.
That is in contrast to the USA where you can choose between world class baseball, basketball and football. Then the USA offers top rate hockey, ice skating, golf, racing (car, bike, horse, dog, motorcycle, etc.), roller derby, track and field, wrestling, martial arts, skate boarding, and more.
A soccer league is going up against some tough competition to become the family entertainment of North Americans.
And that's another clue to the problem. Soccer is a festival sport in Latin America. There, each game is a festival. The sport has all the pageantry of samba dancers in Brazil, drums, singing in Europe, face painting in Asia and Latin America, flag wavers, fire crackers, colored smoke, etc. in many countries.
When you go to a
soccer game, it's not just a game. It's a total sensory
experience. You are entertained by the game, but the real
entertainment is wearing your team's colors, being among those
who love the players just like you do, wearing the team jersey,
feeling like you belong to the team you are rooting for.
That sense of oneness is what causes the energy glow that we find in entertainment. We go to have our spirits united in a common cause, our team. We go to feel superior when our team wins. And we go to share our mutual sorrows when our team loses. Soccer is the ultimate bonding experience.
If we are to make the Western Hemisphere the world center of soccer we have got to do some things we have never done before. They include the need to:
a) Tap into the available international players, many who are world class soccer athletes, who live and work in the USA.
b) Change our notion of soccer as a sport to soccer as a "sport concert" just like we think of a rock concert.
c) Develop creative ways to market these sport concerts and the important components - community, bonding, and belonging.
d) Develop soccer leagues in every community.
e) Market soccer as a family entertainment.
f) Find new investors for soccer leagues and teams.
g) Use the template for soccer marketing on a par with the marketing of other entertainment such as rock concerts.
h) Use the power of sponsorship to create win-win partnerships with local, national and international organizations.

they get started. If a kid is 12 years old, and he or she
discovers soccer and wants to play, he will be laughed off the
team filled with other youths who have played for 4-5 years. I
have seen this happen often.
What is needed is a beginning, basic, step-by-step program for soccer players. ISAI is planning to develop such a soccer program, through the Honduras Summer Soccer Camps.
