SOME STARTING IDEAS FOR COMMUNITY BASED RAIC

LOW TECH LIVESTOCK FEED

A Leucaena fed Low Tech Livestock Feed Plant is a very low cost way to get into the livestock feed business. In order to develop a successful Leucaena Livestock Feed RAIC module, you will need a chaff cutter, a motor powered grinder, a handmade sack bagger, a cement floor for drying and a hay dryer that you can make.

FUEL BRIQUETTE MANUFACTURING

With the coming shortage of trees, fuelwood will be in high demand both for local markets and export markets. A RAIC module which produces energy briquettes and charcoal briquettes from Leucaena and AgroResidues can be very successful. This RAIC module requires a charcoal burner and a briquetting machine.

ORGANIC FERTILIZER PRODUCTION

Organic fertilizers and soil amendment are a growth market. Equipment for this module includes composting areas, tractor, soil turning equipment, drying area, bagging plant, packaging plant, fork lift, shipping sector

Leucaena PLANTATION

Leucaena can be a raw material for rural agroindustrial development through Leucaena Effect Agroforestry. Leucaena mixed with AgroResidues will serve as the feedstock for many of the RAIC modules. Leucaena is a multipurpose crop that can be used in everything from livestock feed to multifiber paper. Leucaena growing requires land, tractor, field crop equipment, chopper, silage baling equipment, Hay Wrap machine. For paper pulp, a special set of machinery is required.
