THE LEUCAENA EFFECT AGROFORESTRY  CHALLENGE:

 FORMING CONSORTIUMS

Once your family or community business is producing products for export, The Leucaena Production Society (LPS) will assist you in finding buyers. However, many time, buyers want products only in container load sizes. And they may want a contract for so many containers per month before they will accept you as a supplier. You need to work with other family or community businesses in your areas to develop the quality control and quality of products you need for export.

When you are ready to begin exporting and you find you cannot produce enough product, it is time to bring other families into a consortium. First you need to talk it over with the members of your family or community corporation. If you
have led them obliquely, carefully and with self esteem building, someone in the family or community will step out to assist you. 

Once you have the support of your family, you can then work from behind the scenes to pull together a consortium of other families in the area. Once you are ready for the consortium level, we will supply complete support and even send one of our staffers to work  with the development of the consortium.

The fact is that no group, no industry, no organization, nor no individual can regenerate and create a sustainable EarthHome alone. It involves moving all of us to a mind set in which only sustainable development will be acceptable and the Herculean task of moving all EarthHumans' core values to include sustainability as a basic definer of EarthHuman life. Therefore, we postulate that every group must be drawn into many separate consortiums and ultimately into one consortium of consortiums through the Internet so that communication will be facilitated and effective.

It is vital that ecologically sound, sustainable development be a key part of the development of the world polyeconomy. Sustainability can only be attained and maintained by meeting the needs of all the players. 

We must all begin to work together.  The creation of sustainable development consortiums will be our great challenge in the next decades. These are some of the players whose needs must be met and who must be involved if we are to successfully meet the Leucaena Effect Agroforestry challenge and regenerate the EarthHome:

• The Present Forest Products Industry - so that it can continue to produce the needed raw materials and processed products for the building and construction industry
• The Forestry Profession so that its intellect, integrity and dedication can be brought to bear on the problem in an Leucaena Effect Agroforestrycontext
• The Pulp and Paper Industries so they can continue to produce the paper products our society cannot live without
• The Information Professionals who must develop information transfer systems so that every person in the world becomes aware of the need for seeing all their activities vis a vis the forest
• The Shipping Industries so that they can develop new methods of shipping tropical raw materials to the processing sites in developed countries
• Firewood Users so they can learn to use giza sorghum, fuel briquettes as well as other alternative fuels such as biogas, solar energy, etc., to meet their cooking and heating needs
• The Ecology and Environmental Communities so they will be able to continue to serve in a watchdog and activist function to ensure that all projects are ecologically sound 
•  Economists so they can be turned to the job of assisting project developers in creating economically viable Leucaena Effect Agroforestryprojects
• Entrepreneurs so they can develop new ways of creating businesses which are ecologically sound
• The Logging industry so they can turn their years of experience into creating ecologically sound methods of using present equipment and develop ways to retrofit and recycle this equipment so it has lower negative impact on the environment and indeed create a positive impact
• Small Scale Farmers so they will be able to develop methods of food production and income generation within the framework of EcoAgroForestry
• Governments so that they will be able to generate foreign exchange at the same time they create and implement long term plans for the protection of their country's natural resources
• Futurists so they can turn their computer simulations and futuristic thinking to conceptualizing and developing sustainable models of long term sustainable development
• Donor Groups such as USAID so they grant contracts to those individuals and groups truly interested in sustainable forest development instead of basing grants and contracts on racism, sexism, old boy networks and political interests
• International Investors so they can apply their considerable resources to the development of profitable Leucaena Effect Agroforestryprojects that will make the entire program attractive worldwide
• Consulting and Engineering Firms so their project development and evaluation skills can be brought to bear to bring theoretical projects into realized projects
• Equipment Suppliers so they realize that they need to use their recycled equipment where the trees will be grown in the tropics and begin to develop joint ventures and partnership arrangements with tropical forest owners and manufacturers
• Caring and Concerned Individuals who may want to volunteer their time to work with campesinos, cooperatives and other low income groups in developing forestry projects
• Non-Profit Organizations who may wish to extend their caring, helping role to replanting the world forest
• World Tourism Industry who needs forests to create the positive ambiance for resorts and other tourist destinations may want to participate in the world forest regeneration
• Churches and Religious Groups who want to apply their Earth stewardship concepts to regenerating the EarthHome
• Green Businesses who need the forest as the source of the products and services they offer the world
• The Military who needs to be redirected toward fighting the real war - the war to regenerate the EarthHome and ensure the survival of us all
• Refugees who could serve an economic function, regain their self esteem and become a vital part of the regeneration of the EarthHome through tree planting and dooryard tree projects
• Nurseries and Seed Suppliers who will have to be mobilized and vastly increased in number to meet the needs of tree planters involved in regeneration
• The Street Children of Latin America will be formed into soccer focused communities who will be replanting the degraded lands of the Western Hemisphere as part of their services
• The Leucaena Effect Agroforestry which will serve as the nexus for consortium building, a focal point for bringing together these groups
• The Forests of the World who are living, breathing organisms whose biological, population and community needs must be considered in developing tree planting schemata
• The EarthHome itself - which is a system, a synergistic, living organism with an equilibrium point. The EarthHome must be regenerated before the deforestation and desertification process moves it too far from its center and it undergoes violent oscillations as it seeks a new equilibrium point, a new set of climatic and geological parameters, which may or may not support life as we know it.

Cornerstones For Creating Rapprochement Between All Groups Involved

There is a commons, a place where everyone can work together.

There is a common ground for agreement, a place to stand where peace can begin.

I learn more from those who disagree with me. Those who think as I do don't jar my thinking as much.

We learn by creating a bond, strengthening that bond into a link, creating more and more links so we can see we are all one. Even as the EarthHome is one, so we all are one.

Always there is SOME ground for agreement. Go into a meeting with the "I know, no matter what, there is some grounds for agreement" mind set. Then we can find it.
