About Dr. Carol Cross

Carol Cross earned her doctorate in Biology with Plant Ecology emphasis from the University of Oregon in 1975. She has taught at both the University of Oregon and Howard University. She has served as a Mined Land Reclamation Specialist at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. She began traveling to Honduras in 1977 and has lived there and traveled there since that time.

She has served as an agricultural and agroforestry consultant in the Caribbean Basin with large farmers as well as small campesinos groups. She has written the "Leucaena Production Handbook", designed for developing country farmers and groups to develop Leucaena projects. In addition, she has authored "Diversity Communication in the Global Workforce".

She is a public speaker, an advanced Toastmaster and has served as Area Governor as well as Arizona state mentoring and membership chairperson. As the founder of Links of Compassion, a non profit. she assisted in providing seeds and relief after Hurricane Mitch in Honduras.

Presently she is developing Soccer for Life, with free soccer clinics in Arizona for Youth at Risk. Through Soccer for Life, she is developing the Honduras Youth Soccer Program for street children. In addition to membership in the Glendale Chamber of Commerce, she is a member of the United Latino Business Coalition in Arizona.

She is facilitating the development of the International Institute of Soccer Tourism (IIST), to be located in Honduras.
