Food and The Lenca
Food Is the Center of Life In The Lenca Home
The Lencas love food. Most of their talk is about
different foods. They love meat (chicken, beef, and pork).
They eat turkey on special occasions and also enjoy fish and seafoods.
They love their foods fried, baked, eaten a horno (toasted on an open fire),
cocido(boiled) and make a wide variety of soups. They of course eat
tortillas, tamales, enchiladas, tacos and similar Latin American dishes,
Food is always an important topics and work stops when it is time to eat. As
they say, "food is more important than work".
Here is how the Lencas cook and eat. When you
come on a tour you will have a chance to visit them in their homes and let
them show you how it is done.
