Leucaena For Carbon Sequestration

Leucaena Seeds Are Now Available For Planting This Season. CLICK HERE For Ordering Information.

You Can Pay Your Carbon Debt & Earn Money By Growing Leucaena

Leucaena is a vital part of every Enviroadventure project being developed by ISAI.  But Leucaena potential for livestock feed, fertilizer, agroforestry, green manure, fuelwood may all be eclipsed by Leucaena's potential for carbon sequestration against global warming and climate change.

The KYOTO Protocol will eventually be enacted, requiring those in industrialized countries to sequester carbon. Trees work very well, better than any other resources we have available., Eventually industrial plants will be required to sequester some if not most of the carbon gases they are sending into the environment.

The faster the tree grows the faster carbon is sequestered from the environment. Leucaena is one of the fastest growing trees in the world.  Already some firms are paying farmers in Mexico and Guatemala to plant trees and are getting carbon credits for these plantings.  Your Leucaena projects can eventually  be a profit center for carbon farming or carbon sequestration to provide carbon credits for firms in developed countries,

The Leucaena you plant today can eventually be your Open Gateway To Halting Global Warming, Ameliorating the Emission of Greenhouse Gases, Turning Back Climate Change and Replanting The Deforested Areas Of Our Home Planet.  And getting paid well for this.

Want to help drive sustainable development in your country.  Develop a LEEAF sustainable development project by planting Leucaena.

LPS Carbon Forestry is a new discipline which has as its goals: a) Stopping global warming, b) Lowering carbon and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere c) Preventing further greenhouse effect changes, d) Halting climate change and e) Providing long term carbon storage and sequestering through a massive worldwide tree planting campaign f)  develop profit centers utilizing Leucaena Effect Agroforestry.

Carbon farming complements tourism or Enviroadventure and as the global warming continues, the need for carbon sequestration projects will grow in developing countries.  Growing trees for carbon sequestration will grow and become profit centers for many LEEAF Strategists and projects.

Some Facts About Trees:

In 50 years one tree recycles more than $37,000 worth of water, provides $31,000 worth of erosion control, $62,000 worth of air pollution control, and produces $37,000 worth of oxygen.

Two mature trees provide enough oxygen for a family of four.

Trees help reduce the "greenhouse effect" by absorbing CO2.

Forest planting is one of the most cost-effective ways of reducing CO2. To remove 1 pound of CO2, planting tree costs less than 1 cent, developing more energy efficient appliances costs about 2 1/2 cents, and developing more fuel-efficient cars costs about 10 cents.

By cooling the air and ground around them, the shade from trees helps cool the Earth's temperature.

Trees are good noise barriers, making a city and neighborhood quieter.

Trees help prevent city flooding by catching raindrops and offsetting runoff caused by buildings and parking lots.

Hospital patients heal faster, require shorter stays and less painkillers if room windows face trees.

A tree-line buffer between fields and streams helps remove farming pollutants before they reach the water.

Well placed trees help cut energy costs and consumption by decreasing air conditioning costs 10-50% & reducing heating costs as much as 4-22%.

Trees are the longest living and largest living organisms on Earth.

People who plant trees become healthier, better looking, richer, and have more friends (well maybe that's stretching it a bit) - plant a tree and find out!

In deserts, leaves absorb moisture from the dew and frost of the cool nights and release it to cool the air during the warm days.

Trees enhance the aesthetics of our environment. Their grandeur, tenacity, and beauty are probably the most enjoyable aspect of trees.

Tree bark and fruit have many medicinal properties, which are still being discovered.

Birds and animals use trees for their homes and shelter and as a source of food.

One person in the USA causes about 30-40 tons of carbon dioxide to be emitted a year. One tree removes about 1 ton of CO2 per year.  Planting 30 trees per person will remove each that person's carbon debt for the year.

To understand how Leucaena can be used to halt global warming, let's take a look at global warming.

Leucaena can be the basis for carbon sequestration through the SAT/LPS Model for sustainable development.  It includes the following components"

Cut Carbon Emissions

Halt Global Warming

Act Together

Nurture Our Earth

Leucaena Based Carbon Farming Projects Being Developed

Enviroadventure Carbon Plantations of Honduras (SCPH) is operating a carbon plantation in the Otero Valley of Western Honduras. The Otero Valley is a fertile valley between San Pedro Sula and La Esperanza, Honduras. The mountains around this fertile valley have been mostly deforested to provide hillside farming. This is a very dangerous situation as more and more hurricanes come over Central America.

We are in the process of purchasing 400 hectares of mountainside that has been deforested for the establishing of the first unit of Enviroadventure Carbon Plantations of Honduras. Enviroadventure CarbonPlantations of Honduras offers you the opportunity to purchase trees in this plantations and/or to purchase carbon credits for US$300 per hectare, which involves the planting of over 1000 trees per hectare.

PROJECT PARAMETERS

SAT-Carbon Plantations of Honduras is a joint venture between an Arizona (USA) group of investors, The International Sports Adventure Institute and a Honduran group. SCPH grows tree seedlings for this and future carbon plantations. Additionally tree seedlings will be sold to Honduran farmers seeking to add a Carbon farming components to their farms. SCPH will obtain part interest in such components as part of its consultancy and will e able to offer additional carbon storage and sequestration credits as the markets moves from voluntary emissions amelioration to mandatory requirement. SCPH will be in a key position to offer these credits worldwide.

SCPH is developing a satellite forestry project to engage Honduran landowners in dedicated carbon forest plantations as well as intercropping with crops. SCPH is seeking a financial partner to assist the group in putting in a 40 million dollar Enviroadventure CarbonDevelopment Center to serve all of Central America. This Enviroadventure Carbon Development Center will include the Enviroadventure Carbon Plantations and the Enviroadventure CarbonComplex.

Time Sharing Enviroadventure Carbon Plantations

PURE CARBON SEQUESTRATION

 Project Planned For Belize

A Phytocarbon 400 plantation - multispecies diversity plantation of San Juan, Laurel, Caoba, Mahogany, teak , Eucalyptus, Tropical pine and Leucaena

We will plant 1000 seedlings per hectare, at three years of age we thin to 500 trees and market as firewood At 8 years of age, we thin again eventually keeping 275 to mature.

These plantations will be available in units of 100 trees. One hundred trees is 100 carbon sequestration unit. Citizens in a developed country like the USA are probably responsible for between 15 to 40 tons of carbon emission per year, Over a lifetime of 70 years, each average American who is responsible for 25 tons per year, will owe a carbon debt of 1750 tons. That means you would need to plant and maintain at least 1750 trees just to be even. And that means every tree must live and grow for 70 years.

And if you want to participate in reoxygenating our planet, you would want to double that amount. That means you should participate in the planting and maintenance of at least 3500 trees. By planting 3500 trees, you will cover your carbon debt and have the profit potential of sustainable harvesting, milling and marketing of the other 1750.

Each unit is $25 per tree under 1000 trees, US$20 per tree over 1000 trees. You may purchase in carbon sequestration units of 100 trees.

There is no real estate purchase here. You only own the trees. But the high priced long lived teak, caobo, mahogany, San Juan And Laurel have very high value for timber and lumber. Also the Eucalyptus offer a short term profit center while you still maintain your sequestered growing trees. But remember when trees are cut and used for lumber, the carbon is still stored.

OUR UNIQUE TIME SHARING OFFER

We want you to own your trees and take pride in them. In other words we believe you should be able to come to Belize and actually touch your trees. That way you will know you are sequestering carbon.

So we invite you to come and visit your trees. Your grove of trees will have a hand carved wood plaque noting they were sequestered by you. If you are corporation seeking carbon emission credits, you will have proof of your activities. We will have these carbon sequestration plots certified by an agency of the Belize government.

You get:

Depending on your level of participation, you will be entitled to a time sharing stay on the plantation.. You will be able to sleep in one of the rustic cabins on the project and sleep in a hammock. Meals will be extra but will below cost, nutritive native cuisine prepared by our own staff.
