Home of the Guerreros de Relampago  Soccer Academy.

In August 2010, Guerreros de Relampago will be opening the Academy in La Esperanza, Honduras.  This will be  a bilingual school, a full time academy for SustainableT ourism and a Soccer Academy.  A key part of this full - time Soccer Academy will include an academic program for youth from 12 years and older and a competitive soccer training program.  Charter students will live with families in La Esperanza as we build the dormitory for future years. 

The second key part of the curriculum will be bicycling. We will build a BMX track and teach BMX riding and racing as well as mountain bike building and racing. The mountains of Intibuca are perfect for this. This will be a component of the training program for soccer athletes.

RECREATION:

The recreation program will be operated by Chris Watkins, grandson of Dr. Carol Cross. Recreation will include video gaming with PS2 and computer racing games as well as bike tours. Players may bring PS2's, Game Boys and other gaming units, but they will be controlled by Chris and can be checked out only when all soccer training and chores are completed. Please do not bring violent games like Grand Theft Auto. Such violent games will not be allowed at the Academy. They will be locked up until you are ready to leave and then you may take them out for the trip home.

The program will include passionate soccer skills training,  English as a second language training, tourism based curriculum and intensive soccer training based on the Guerreros de Relampago Soccer Mastery program.

You Experience Peak Performance As A Western Hemisphere Guerreros de Relampago Soccer Master

Soccer Mastery is an integrative (Body + Mind + Spirit) athletic skill development system.  This program flows out from the different styles of  play in the Western Hemisphere.  In the USA we see youth soccer programs in every community.  They are based  on volunteer coaches who are dedicated to giving North American youth their support and guidance.  This highly organized system is focused on building a whole new cadre of soccer players.  These young players grow up having been trained and coached as they build the skills. 

Latin America Has A Soccer Immersion Culture

In Latin America we see soccer players immersed in a soccer culture almost from birth. There is little or no organized activity for youth. But because it is an integral part of the culture, almost every male plays soccer weekly, often daily. 

Guerreros de Relampago Soccer Mastery seeks to create a new Western Hemisphere soccer style.  This Guerreros de Relampago Soccer Masters Academy will combine the step by step North American organized soccer system with the "run and gun life immersion" soccer of Latin America.

Through this cross fertilization, we seek to create soccer players who play at their peak level each time they enter the field.  A key component is our emphasis on the inner athlete.  Our inner athlete emphasis will include the development of cross cultural communication strategies for our players. We expect to have soccer camps in both Latin America and North America and enable our players to experience both these vital styles.  

By teaching cross-cultural communication methods, we will enable any player in the Western Hemisphere to tap into all the soccer traditions and greatness of our Hemisphere.

Guerreros de Relampago Soccer Mastery Programs

Additionally we will integrate the spirit, which is what really defines the peak performing athlete.  Thus we focus on developing character or inner athlete spirit, in addition to the development of physical and mental skills.  The emphasis on the inner athlete will lead to Peak Performance. Peak Performance, through Soccer Mastery means making each practice one of skill enhancement.  How does a Soccer Master play the game?

They bring to the table Body + Mind + Spirit skill sets so they:

a)  know how to play soccer well by constantly upgrading body skills;

b) understand mentally how to develop and follow a game plan and;

c)  constantly work inwardly to develop the self esteem to play to their mental and physical capability. 

What Are The Goals of Guerreros de Relampago Soccer Mastery?

We seek to create a Western Hemisphere Soccer Culture.  We want to serve as the facilitator for the development of soccer as the cross-cultural communication medium in the Western Hemisphere.  Soccer can be the bonding and linking force that can eventually lead to a united Western Hemisphere.

Our role is to facilitate soccer focused communication methods for every person in the Western Hemisphere.  Only through communication can we develop a Hemisphere-wide soccer culture.  We invite you to use these resources and join with us in unifying our Hemisphere through soccer.

In addition, we do not like to see former soccer athletes or practicioners end up after their playing years without financial resources, insurance or other resources to live well after their performing years.  Because we see the importance of these athletes preparing for their post playing years, we have arranged for a financial planning service to be a part of our soccer camps, our tourism seminars and the Guerreros de Relampago Soccer Master Academy.

THE WAY OF SOCCER MASTERY

Guerreros de Relampago Soccer Masters Academy is dedicated to the creation of peak performance in soccer athletes throughout the Western Hemisphere. Our classes are for anyone who wants to become a Soccer Master: youth soccer players, women and men.

Begin at the Beginning

This is a begin-at-the-beginning program that will be intensive.  Classes will be held during the day and evenings. It is set up to create mastery in soccer skills. Players will move through a series of sock levels based on the acquisition of specific skills. A part of every practice focuses on the inner athlete. Each athlete is taught not only the physical skills, but mental and character skills. The youth leadership program also develops character training for peak performance

Colored Sock Levels. Soccer skills are taught through the step-by-step Guerreros de Relampago Soccer Master program of mastery learning. Soccer Masters progress through a series of levels which are based on colored soccer socks. There are 9 sock colors leading to the Rainbow Sock level, the tenth level. Each Guerreros de Relampago Soccer Master will go through testing as well as Guerreros de Relampago Soccer Competitions. In addition, all Guerreros de Relampago Soccer Masters can join a program to develop youth soccer coaches, mentors and leaders. This is available to those reaching level seven or yellow sock level.

Rainbow Sock Levels. Those reaching Rainbow level will have acquired all basic skills of soccer play to the mastery level.  For example, they will be able to place a shot anywhere in a goal, with any kind of shot.  They will be able to do this from any distance, and come within one foot of the chosen part of the goal.  That is what we mean by soccer mastery.

There are then ten Rainbow levels where the skills of playing on a team, developing specific soccer plays, and competitive soccer play are mastered.

Maestro Levels. There are 5 Maestro levels. Those achieving Maestro level are capable of playing at the international level.

Coaches, Trainers, and Leaders. We also develop youth and adult leaders, and support coaches and trainers in soccer communication skills. The goal is to create Western Hemisphere soccer integration.

Referee Training.  We will bring down US and international level referees to train referees at various level.  Every student will learn the international rules of soccer and be capable of refereeing a soccer game upon request.

Guerreros de Relampago soccer camps. Guerreros de Relampago soccer camps run year-round summer camps in Honduras. Also, special classes for sports artists, sports writers and sports marketers are offered.

Individualized Instructional Program For Soccer Masters

The  Guerreros de Relampago Soccer Masters Academy  includes an unique academic program.  The academy is headed by Dr. Carol Cross, holder of an earned doctorate in biology from the University of Oregon and Dee Brightman, with a Master of Arts in Linguistics from Ohio University, with emphasis on teaching English as a Second Language.  

These founders are dedicated to intellectual excellence for athletes.   Each Soccer Master will be given an Individualized Academic Program (IAP) for their personal potentiation. Soccer Masters are expected to master the internet and achieve native speakers fluency in American English. That will require the use of the founders special "Athletic Learning System?,  

Financial Planning For Soccer Masters

Competitive level soccer athletes need to begin early planning for their financial future. Chances are whether they want to play at the college level or want to become professional athletes, referees or coaches, finances will be an important part of it.  No athlete can afford to concentrate solely on the soccer skills.  Every athlete needs to begin early learning how to invest money, plan for there future, protect themselves against possible injury and make sure that they have a good life after their playing days are over.  A key component of the Guerreros de Relampago Soccer Mastery program will be mandatory financial planning. Each soccer athlete who enters the school will be given a individual instruction program and individualized financial planning program.

Summer Programs

The summer courses in Honduras will be held as month long sessions, full days.  A person can complete two sock levels during the month, depending on his or her willingness to work and ability.  Two one month courses will be held each summer to enable more youth to enter the program. The completion of the first two sock levels is a requirement for entry into the Year Round Soccer Mastery program. Year Round Soccer Mastery Program

This is a nine-month full-time program including academic study, immersion learning of American English and based on a Sports Adventure Tourism business development curriculum.  If you would like your child or you, to become a world class soccer player, this is the program for you.  You will be learning soccer, playing in tournaments, learning the skills of coaching, refereeing, peer coaching, team leadership and tourism Project development.  This is a unique experience that will only be available to a few participants.  You can be a charter student in this unique program.

It will include working as a soccer camp youth intern as well as working in Guerreros de Relampago joint venture Soccer Tourism projects in Honduras.  This is the most powerful soccer learning program in the world.  Players continue to live with selected Honduran families, but this time, they become members of  teams and train with them every day. This includes playing in Honduran leagues, tournaments and the like.  

It may also include working as ball boys and team assistants at games of our associated team, Guerreros de Relampago  They will be integrally involved in building soccer fields, helping develop Sports Adventure Tourism facilities such as BMX tracks, mountain board and biking trails and building a soccer stadium.  They will serve as peer coaches for the Soccer For Life, the Liga Menor de Futbol Intibucana and the Honduras Youth Soccer Project, working with local children and poor children as part of their instructor training.

ONLY A FEW WILL BE ACCEPTED

This charter year we will only accept a few children into the program. The child must submit a paper in his own handwriting telling why he/she wants to learn soccer.

They must also agree to listen to parents and strive for peak performance at each practice. They are required to communicate with their parents weekly.  If their parents are in another country, they must communicate by email, letter and phone regularly.  In addition, each child must have a letter of recommendation from a teacher, minister, coach or a community organization.  Your child must be 10 years old and up to enroll.

As you can see, this new soccer learning program is not just about learning the physical skills of soccer. This program is designed to develop Soccer Masters, those who have complete control of their body, mind and spirit. We create leaders who can get along with anyone in the world. We include character building, communication skills, personal interaction skills as well as the physical skills of playing soccer.

Cost

$15,000  for nine month intensive soccer skills development  and includes all travel in Honduras to games and friendlies; room and board (homestay); translators; transportation to and from the Academy and training locations; routine medical care. Includes: Round-trip airfare from new Orleans, Houston or Miami  to La Esperanza, Honduras;  Fees are non refundable.

Visa Application fee is $175, which includes preparation of VISA in Spanish and presentation to Honduran Immigration office.

Two Summer 2010 Intensive Short Courses

We will hold two one month intensive all day training program this summer. Your soccer athlete is guaranteed to move at least three levels from where they test. Each summer student will be tested for sock level and is guaranteed to pass three of the level tests above him if he or she follows the program.

First program June 11- July 11, 2010

Second Session from July 15 To August 15, 2010

Cost of each full month program including round trip airfare from Miami, Florida, New Orleans, Louisiana or Houston, Texas

You will be playing games each week against teams of the Liga Menor de Futbol Intibucana as well as in local tournaments.
