Why should you and Your Child Get Involved With The Soccer Parents Club and Soccer For Life Soccer Leagues (SFLSL)?
Community - Your child belongs to a culture based on self esteem building, community building and leadership. They will be part of that culture. Our goal is to have SFLSL soccer centers for kids and adults where through the Soccer Mastery programs they can gain these skills.
Structure - How many of us have been thrust into a situation where we are expected to perform but we just don't know how to do the task? When we ask for help, we are told, "I gave you the instruction. Just do it. Can’t you figure it out? Anyone could see how to do this." So you try to do it but you do it wrong. And who gets the reprimand - not the supervisor who wouldn’t take the time to show you how to do it. You who were never given the right instruction will get the flak.
Children are always put into these traps. Told to perform attacks they just don't know how to do. If they were told how to do it once, they still don't know how to do it right. Their bodies have not learned the needed skills. In order to easily perform a task, we need to have body skills. In other words, we need to have practice it enough so our body know show to do it.
That’s why the SFLSL soccer mastery programs provide structure. Every child knows exactly how to perform each move he is required to make at the level he or she has completed. They will be practiced with other students at that skill level until they past the testing for that level.
Then they will be promoted and given recognition in front of the group. Indeed because we so focus on involving the family into the child’ success, we will work with parents to work with success at home. The children start a Star Card system will be given to parents to use.
They will give the child stars for the tasks they may do at home and they will be given recognition stars to sew onto their socks. Of course good papers from school, good grades and other recognition will also be given stars to be sewn onto the sock.
As we say, parent involvement is paramount to he success of this program. As a result, we are offering a Soccer Parent Handbook online to helping your child with each sock level. The child gets a guide to that sock level. The parent can also get the parent handbook and work at home with the child not only specific soccer exercises, but with the principle of Americas soccer which include self esteem building, community building, leadership skill development,.
So in this structured program, not only does your child learn how to perform the skills, they learn how to be in compliance, they learn how to follow directions and they learn how to obey. And they learn how to build on the previous skills they have developed.
Meaning - We want the things we do to matter. Acceptance by our peers is one of our most important and deepest needs. Kids who do not meet the standards of others kids are often rejected, ostracized and become loners. I think none of us want to have our child be bullied or be the scapegoats. Sports skills is one of the key ways kids can avoid this type of rejection. But participant this program, your child has found away to defused rejection. Also the child learn nonresistance and variety of tools to deal with bullies and others.
A superordinate goal - It is vital that at an early age your child learn to give. So each child is taught how to build the self esteem of others in the class, to give support, and to work together with others. Something it is a surprise to child to find out he or she can give comfort to another kids in the class who may have faced problems or tragedy.
Your children will be taught how to give self esteem to others, to give support. One of the key ways is the applause all must give when a child is recognized for learning a specific skill. They are also taught how to say "good one" or good shot to others. The Honduras Youth Soccer Project and Soccer Gear Donation Projects are good superordinate goals for soccer youth.
A key skill that will be developed from the first level is mentoring. Kids will learn to share the knowledge they have with others at their same level through peer coaching. We will be watching for skills and once a student learns how to successfully perform any part of the form, they will be peer coaching others.
Another key will be sharing and leadership through the Youth Soccer Leaders Program where children organize cleat drives and collect used soccer gear for poor children in Honduras.
Secondly, as we develop the levels, students from higher levels will be serving as mentors for lower levels. These will develop the skills of leadership.
This is a program focused also on helping children learn who to embrace diversity. Soccer is the most popular game in the world. By participating in SFLSL Soccer, they are join a worldwide community of people from most of the countries in he world who all meet on a level playing field - the soccer world. They will learn about Mind Clone and learn to accept others in the groups and their school.
They will learn about Mind Clones and understand things like discussing kids who may be disabled, or dress differently or wear poor clothes. They will learn how to understand and embrace the diversity in the soccer world. Sometimes when you see a soccer game, 15 or more nationalities will be represented on the field during the course of the 90 minute game.
So you see, our program is designed to help kids learn if the skills they need to be accepted in the world in which we live.
a) to have a skill so they can fit in
B) to learn to have self confidence
c) to learn to build self esteem in others
d) to learn they have something that someone else may need to feel better
e) to learn to accept and embrace diversity
f) to learn to be in compliance with authority figures
g) to develop a closer relationship with their parents
h) to begin getting recognition at home for good actions.
i) to gain leadership skills by becoming a mentor.
Our children are the treasure. We say to our children "You are such a wonderful child". We include this poem on a linked page where you can print it off and read it every day.
The Wonderful Child program is a vital part of Soccer For Life Soccer Leagues.
