Soccer Parents Handbook

How to Create Children Who Succeed
The Soccer Parents Handbook is dedicated to helping
members of the Soccer Parents Club become empowered parents. Each week will
offer new ideas on how soccer parents can help their children succeed in school
and life.
We promise in the Soccer Parents Club to value you as
parent. Here are some of the things our parents have told me are important
to you. Some parents have told us this is what they feel:
| I want to know that I have
the right to speak |
| I want to be acknowledged
as a valued part of a team |
| I work hard to get my
child to practice and the team and I want to be a appreciated for my
efforts |
| I don’t want to be
threatened when I am the customer |
| I want a fair resolution
of my problems, or caring interest, not a put down |
| I want to be the important
one, not have to bow down to someone else's |
| I want to feel like a
partner in my child’s development, not an excluded outcast |
| I want to coach to know my
name and speak to me like I am person of value |
| I want the coach to value
me |
| I want to be respected as
a partner |
| I want the coach to be
happy to see me |
| I want the coach to
appreciate my making the effort to come and bring my child |
| I want the coach to show
they like me |
| I want the coach to build
my self esteem |
| I want the coach to
acknowledge my role in my child's life |
| I want the coach to think
what I feel or say or think has value |
| I want the coach to want to see me
satisfied |
| I want the coach to share my child’s
progress with me |
| I want the coach to see my child as
special |
| I want the coach to want my child to
succeed |
| I want the coach to understand I do
not have to do business with him - he should be trying to please
me |
| I want the coach to know that
without me and other parents he would have no team |
| I want the coach to feel good about
my coming to practice and games |
| I want the coach to solve any
problems or questions I may have |
| I want the coach to see me the
parent as a trusted friend, confident, counselor a support, and
understanding person who cares about their relationship with their
child |
| I want to know my child’s weaknesses
and strengths |
| I want to know how I can help my
child grow |
This Week's tips:
1. Never test the child without first making sure
they know
2. Never expect children to understand words or
definition because everyone know them - remember most of the words we know as
adults we learned in school., We never learned the definition until we studied
them in either junior high or high school.
3. Always build self esteem in your
children
4. Practice focusing on the good things you see in
your child
5. Always make sure the child knows the foundation
steps to learn at the new level
6. Reward the child when he or she performs the task
you want to see happen again
7. Be willing to take the time to help your child
grow
8. Support your child in learning the skills of
positive interpersonal communication and leadership

Soccer for Life, Inc.,
is an Arizona not for profit organization dedicated to youth empowerment,
youth involvement and youth sports for
personal development. In support of this mission, Dr. Carol Cross,
Founder and International Director of Soccer for Life invites you to
participate in Soccer Action For A Green World, the environmental soccer
program. Soccer Action for a Green World creates confluence between
youth in developed countries including the USA, Canada, European countries,
Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and youth
in developing countries. Confluence or moving together alongside is
one of the most pressing needs of the 21st century. Young people
growing up today are going decide if it is war or peace. They will
decide to create friendships with those from other cultures or to act like
enemies. In addition, they are going to decide if our world will be
green or brown, hot or normal. Through Soccer Action For A Green
World, our youth can build friendships, create new ideas, develop projects
to fight global warming and change the world into a better place.
It is our feeling that everyone is seeking
community, structure, meaning an a Superordinate Goal. We consider these the
requisite for a life lived for sharing and receiving alike, supporting and
being supporting, offering comfort and being comforted. We call our
"Personal Contribution To Life".
Soccer for Life is
seeking your help to develop the Intibuca Youth Soccer Center where intend
to create the Soccer Action For A Green World Ecolodge for sponsors, donors
and patrons of Soccer For Life can come and relax and regenerate. We
are putting together a volunteer program, fund raising kits and all the
support you need to make through Personal Contribution to Life.

Soccer For Life Has A New North American
Director To Head The Soccer Gear Donation Project,
Chris Watkins. He is a home schooled student in Florida who has just
finished a year in Honduras as an Intibuca Soccer
Volunteer. Chris first visited
Intibuca when he was six
years old. Chris is a soccer referee, and specializes in Goal Keeper
training. Chris is considered a "geek or techie' and is called the
"Gentle Giant" because he is over 6 feet tall at 17 years old and also
because of his gentle style of coaching of young players. Chris is an
avid gamer, operates through his own website the
MOTILES Gaming nexus under the name
of magelord-keeper. His goal in life is
to be a video game developer. He is presently the "go to" guy for any
computer or technology needs of Soccer for Life.
He has learned a lot in Honduras, playing both with teams and in the
streets, including what is called the
Honduran Way of Soccer. He is presently playing in the Liga Mayor
team Atletico Lenca which is registered with FENAFUTH. He has been
asked to tryout for the second division professional team Atletico
Esperanzano in January. He is helping to develop the
Honduran Soccer Mastery program for the
Ligas de la Comunidades Intibucanas. He will be interested in
communicating by email with gamers in the Far Cry world, Battlefield 2 world
and the Guild Wars world. Chris is an important part of distributing
