So You Have A Soccer Store!

Chances are your soccer store is the dream of your life.  You have worked long and hard to build this store.  Most likely you love your work as young and old come in and look at all the wonderful soccer items you offer.  And many of them are pretty big ticket items. Adidas for $200.  Nikes for $250.  Some Air Jordans might even run $300. And when soccer season starts you'll be equipping hundreds of soccer teams and clubs.  And you love the people who come in and talk soccer.  It's a good life.  That is because your soccer store is a part of Soccer World One.  You see there are two soccer worlds. One in developed countries like the USA, Canada, Australia and others.  But millions live in Soccer World Two in the underdeveloped world. 

There are a million miles between these two worlds.  There ARE Two Soccer Worlds.

Operating a store always means good that cannot be sold or sold at a profit. There are returns. There are goods that get dirty or a little bit scuffed. 1.  Participate in Project Athletic Shoe For Youth Empowerment As A Coordinator.  Your Store Can Be A Collection Site. As A Collection Site You Can Gain Local Publicity. You Can Combine This With A Buyback Program So That The Customer Who Brings Them Into Your Store Gets A Discount On A New Pair Of Shoes

 Ask all your customers, the parents and adults you know to clean out their old athletic shoes, basketball shoes and running shoes and bring them to you. Ask them to donate ten dollars for shipping to Honduras. Where Can You Find 500+ Pairs of Athletic Shoes?

There are many ways to collect your 500+ pairs of shoes.  Here are some ways

1.  Ask each member of your soccer clubs, leagues and associations you serve to collect athletic shoes from their closets, garages and basements.

2. Place a collection box in your store

3.  Have a "Athletic Shoe Potluck" and have each person bring a pair of shoes along with the food

4.  Talk to other local organizations with thrift shops and ask them to donate a few pair

5.  Talk to  local shoe stores and ask them to donate a few pair

6.  Ask to put up a box with your store's name on it in the local high school

7. Go to your local college and ask them if they have a recycling program and will they help by collecting at the college

8.  Ask your employees to bring in their used collect athletic shoes

9.  Talk to the mayor of your town and ask him for support

10.  See if you can put a public service announcement on local radio or television

11. Talk to your pastor

12. If you belong to organizations like Kiwanis or Lions Club see if they will help collect at their meetings

13.  Give out flyers wherever you go (We will be having a pdf file online soon that you can download and print)

14. Take off your athletic shoes and add them to the mix.

The cost of shipping by boat to Honduras is one of our major obstacles in serving these children.  We need funds to ship boxes of goods we already have.  Whatever you are willing to donate is welcome.

3.  Sponsor a City Wide Athletic Shoe and Soccer Cleat Drive

Want to really make a big difference?  Help us by setting up a athletic shoe drive in your city.  We have flyers and other support documents we can email you.

4. Sponsor  An Intibuca Youth Soccer Volunteer

Many caring youth and not so young want to serve as soccer volunteers. As a soccer volunteer in La Esperanza, you can affect the life of a child. You can help a child with limited soccer skills to fit in. You can help build soccer fields. You can help build training equipment. You can show kids how to perform drills. You can share training tips with coaches and trainers. You can develop training regimes. You can become an integral part of the building of the Intibuca Youth soccer Center. Soccer for Life, Inc., is an Arizona not for profit organization dedicated to youth empowerment, youth involvement and youth sports for personal development.  In support of this mission, Dr. Carol Cross, Founder and International Director of Soccer for Life invites you to participate in Soccer Action For A Green World, the environmental soccer program.  Soccer Action for a Green World creates confluence between youth in developed countries including the USA, Canada, European countries, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and youth in developing countries.  Confluence or moving together alongside is one of the most pressing needs of the 21st century.  Young people growing up today are going decide if it is war or peace.  They will decide to create friendships with those from other cultures or to act like enemies.  In addition, they are going to decide if our world will be green or brown, hot or normal.  Through Soccer Action For A Green World, our youth can build friendships, create new ideas, develop projects to fight global warming and change the world into a better place.

It is our feeling that everyone is seeking community, structure, meaning an a Superordinate Goal. We consider these the requisite for a life lived for sharing and receiving alike, supporting and being supporting, offering comfort and being comforted.  We call our "Personal Contribution To Life".

Soccer for Life is seeking your help to develop the Intibuca Youth Soccer Center where intend to create the Soccer Action For A Green World Ecolodge for sponsors, donors and patrons of Soccer For Life can come and relax and regenerate.  We are putting together a volunteer program, fund raising kits and all the support you need to make through Personal Contribution to Life.

How to Prepare Your Donations

Your donations will be shipped to Honduras in the boxes you send. Please send in sturdy boxes no larger than 22 x 22 x 22 to:

The boxes should be no bigger than 22"x22"x22". Place items inside plastic garbage bags and close them before putting the soccer gear in the boxes. The boxes will be shipped by boat and this ensures they do not get wet. The boxes should be labeled with two labels:

The donated items must be itemized on the Donation Invoice Sheet. A copy must be placed in each box as well as a separate copy must be sent to Dr. Cross.  Make sure when you send her the envelope of the donation sheets, you tell her it is for the Soccer for Life Donation project.
