Here's Why  Your Sports Gear Can Make Such A Difference

I want to share something with you.  It's a photo of children in the mountains of Honduras making soccer balls.  Not soccer balls to sell.  Not soccer balls of leather.  These soccer balls are made from potato chip bags.  Now churros as chips are called here sell for 1 lempira (about 5 cents).  Children often live off churros.  Instead of giving them dinner even the poor dinner of tortillas and a little bit of cheese, parents give them one lempira to go and buy a bag of churros for supper.  That sounds terrible doesn't it since these bags are one tenth the size of our smallest chip bags.  But if you earn 50 Lempiras (less than $3 per day) it is money.

Well these children who live off churros make use of these bags by making soccer balls. Here are some pictures of how they make them.

Are you wondering what to do with customer returns, samples, factory defects, worn and damaged  items, closeouts, any odds and ends?  Your sports items can mean the world to a child or adult in the cold mountains of Intibuca.  Whether your unwanteds go to a child so he can play soccer with his team or to a working adult who have no other outlets.  By spending their time playing soccer these men tire themselves out and release the tension of their poverty stricken lives.  Would you believe the release they get impacts on their family life so they are not so abusive to their families. 

YOUR SPORTS GEAR HAS POWER!  Your sports items can work a miracle in someone's life.  Your UNNEEDED SPORTS ITEM can make a life of a poor child richer than you can imagine. In these villages there is no electricity.  Even the city of La Esperanza (the largest in the entire state of Intibuca) has no movie theatre.  There is absolutely no recreation in the mountains except soccer.  So they play soccer with handmade balls.  You can change all that. With your help we can put up basketball goals, set up soccer fields, develop volleyball courts.

Soccer For Life can use your sports equipment to distribute in the mountains of Intibuca in Honduras.  Indeed we can use any kinds of sports gear that you have. 

It doesn't matter whether you have 1 ITEM, 1000  or even more.  We only ask that you take care of  the cost of shipping them to Arizona.  From there we will obtain the funds to ship them to Honduras.  Each item of sports gear will impact someone's life. You can enrich a life with just one ball, one pair of cleats, one box of bandaids.

Setting Up the Intibuca Youth Soccer Center

Soccer For Life is planning to set up the Intibuca Youth Soccer Center for our teams we will be developing. Because of the fact that many of our Youth-At-Risk have not yet learned the social manners of those in mainstream youth leagues and soccer clubside, we feel that these youths should play among themselves until they gain better social skills.

We will be teaching soccer skills, social skills and character skills such as teamwork, dealing with anger and self control.

All contributions to Soccer For Life, Inc., are deductible under section 170 of the Code. That means that donations of cash as well as equipment, used soccer gear, vehicles, etc., receive a tax deduction from IRS. Any donation will be valued and you will receive a statement from Soccer for Life, Inc., that you can use to deduct from your income tax. We are classified as a public charity under 509 (a) (2) of the IRS code. We function under the laws of the State of Arizona and carry an Internal Revenue Service "Recognition of Exemption", No. 17053296009004.
