Latin Culture Is Popular And Is Everywhere

Spanish in the language of Salsa, of Mexican food, of Flamenco and of the hottest singers on today's pop music charts.  Latino music is in.  It's hot, everyone is listening to it and watching those hot new videos,  But what are they saying?  What is Shakira saying in her hot new video?. And Olga Tanon.  Gloria Trevi, Alejandro Fernandez, Juan Gabriel.  Today these are probably the most popular singers in the world.  And if you don't speak Spanish you don't have a clue as to what they are saying.  Isn't it about time you learned some Spanish so you can be in the know too?

Hispanics Are The Fastest Growing Population and They Are Everywhere

It's not just Latin music.  It's Hispanics everywhere. You work with them, you need to employ them, they are going to your church, you meet Hispanic parents at PTA meetings.  But if you don't speak Spanish you just pass each other by like ships in the night.  What opportunities for new friendships you miss every time you don't know a few words of Spanish.

Your church probably now has a Hispanic congregation.  What connection does your Anglo congregation have with them?  Is there any?  Do you talk to each other or not? What kinds of bridges are you building between the Anglo and Hispanic congregation?  If no one speak Spanish in the Anglo congregation there will be no connection.

What About Your Business And The Hispanic Market?

Can you afford to ignore the fastest growing marketplace in the Western Hemisphere.  You put up a sign "Se Hablo Espanol".  But do you?  Or do you just pull out a Spanish phrase book and try to talk?  That is just not good enough to gain your fair market share of these new customers. You are going to need to speak Spanish to capture them.

And now with the passage of CAFTA you have another opportunity in these markets. But you are going to have to speak their language.  They will demand that you communicate in their "idioma".  Now is the time to learn the language that is fast becoming the most spoken language in the Western Hemisphere.

When You Want To Volunteer With a Church, Service Organization, Civic Club or Other Project in Latin America

Does your church, service organization or community group go on volunteer missions or programs to Latin America?  What about medical missions?  Have you wanted to go on one but couldn't speak Spanish? Or maybe you went on one but never got a chance to interact with the people because you couldn't speak Spanish.  You  did not interact with anyone outside your group.  Did that make you feel a little empty even though you were able to help? Wouldn't it have been more satisfying and even more useful to the community you traveled to if you could have spoken friendly words to the people you were helping?  Have you vowed that next time you would be able to be a bit more friendly?  Now you can.

Are you Studying Spanish In The University?

Studying Spanish in a university is a great way to learn the basics of Spanish.  You can learn the verb tenses, uses of adjectives, some vocabulary.  But if you want your Spanish to be usable, if you want to actually mix with and communicate with Spanish speaking people, you need field training.

It's like the difference between Chemistry lecture and Chemistry lab.  You learn a lot in the lecture.  But if want to be able to use chemistry in more advanced classes or even in your work, you are going to have to do actual experiments.  You are going to have to use real chemicals.  You do it under controlled conditions, led by your instructor so you don't make any serious mistakes.

That's the same for a language like Spanish.  You need to work with real people just like the chemists needs experiences with real chemicals.  That is what this Intensive Spanish program does for you. It throws you into an environment where you will be working with real people, but with the protection, guidance and support of caring instructors.

Do You Work In the Medical Field?

Are you a doctor, nurse, technician or other person working in the medical field?  I  don't have to tell you that you need Spanish.  This Spanish course will bring in several local medical personnel to participate in this course.

Do You Work In Social Services?

Workers in social services whether in the welfare field, working with children, social security or other fields are finding that Spanish language facility is almost a requirement to get and keep a job these days.

Are You Thinking About Retiring In Central America?

Where can you afford to live after you have a fixed income?  Where can you retire with a quality of life that gives you the comforts you need and the safety you require?  There are many countries in Latin America where you can retire.  Honduras has much to offer, especially in the cool mountain temperate climate.  There are many Americans retired here already.  Learning Spanish here will give you the chance to see the area and decide if it will fit your needs

Are You A Teacher?

Where to take your students where they can have a unique cross cultural experience at the same time they have intensive Spanish lessons.  Bring your class to the Spanish Language Institute of Intibuca.

High School Students Gain From Immersion Learning

High school students can learn Spanish under the close supervision of teachers from local schools while attending Spanish classes here.

Are You In Import, Export, International Trade And Development

You need Spanish language ability.  If you are in international trade, export or import I don't need to tell you how important Spanish is. It has become almost a requirement for doing business in the lucrative Latin American markets. But as the population of Hispanics grow in the USA, so does the number of international business opportunities that open up here in the USA. Latin American businessmen and women travel to the USA constantly and if you can speak their language you can do business with them. Your ability to speak Spanish is a plus when dealing with competitive businesses without those with Spanish language fluency.

Spanish Language Gamers Club

Teenagers and young people who are learning Spanish can have the opportunity to play video games with Honduran kids who belong to the local Gamers Club, headed by Chris Watkins, our youthful (16 years old) Director of Technology.  This gamers club is made up of local youths, mostly soccer players who hold LAN parties and play games together.

Spanish Language Cultural Club

This is an informal group of SLI students who have a weekly meeting with community members to practice their Spanish and learn more about Intibuca.  Feel free to participate.  Since it is a potluck, students and community members bring food to share. Potluck meals are available for a nominal price for those seeking to participate.
