Sports Diversity & World Peace

The Power Of Sports For Bring World Peace Through Supporting Diversity

Sports Diversity In The Global Sports Economy

The Sports and Sports Adventure Worlds are Made Up Of People From Everywhere In The World.  The Global Sports Economy Requires We Become Proactive about Sports Diversity

First Let's Look at Soccer

Soccer is probably the most diversity friendly sport in the world. When you look at soccer teams around the world. Not only do you see soccer player of color, you see tecnicos, coaches, manager, referees, everyone get into the game.

That is a vital part of our sport. Our sport has a lot to teach North Americans. As a result, one of the key areas we will be teaching our soccer athletes is an appreciation for the color spectrum of the soccer world. Soccer has a great deal to teach us all.

One of the key programs we will be developing is a Sports Diversity Speakers Bureau. Our athletes will speak at schools and boys and girls clubs, YWCA, to share the message of the sports diversity spectrum, This will be called the Sports Diversity Education Outreach Program.

Soccer Can Prepare Your Child To Live In A Global World

Our children are growing up into a global world.  We may want to turn back the clock to the time when we as North Americans only had to care about our opinions, ideas, or cultural values.  But the world we live in is forever changed.  Whether we want it or not, we are in a cross cultural world.

That is the wonder of soccer.  You see international teams with players from 11 different countries on the field at the same time.  How do the coaches communicate in so many different language.  The fact is, they use the same language.  It is the soccer language.  You do not need words to communicate in the soccer language.

This is very important for our children who are growing up into a cross cultural world like non ever seen before.

In Arizona, we can truly see the effect of increased diversity in the population.  We are seeing increasing numbers of Hispanics in the populations.  AfroHeritage people have been in Arizona before statehood and are increasing in numbers.  Of course we probably have the largest population of Native Americans and certainly the largest acreage on Indian lands.

This is only the tip of the iceberg. We have  a large population of Asians who have been here for generations such as the Chinese.  We also have a viable Japanese community, Indian community, Muslim community and increasing number of recent African immigrants.  And of course there are large numbers of immigrants from Kosovo.  There is also a thriving populations of Europeans from many countries.  We are truly an international culture.

Your children are going to school with the children of all these different cultures.  How do you want them to interact with them?  What would you like to see them think about all these kinds of people? They will eventually be sharing the workforce with them.  Eventually they may be doing business with them.  Chances are they are going to be playing soccer with them, since most international are very soccer oriented.

The fact is that your children will be living in this new high diverse world no matter what part of town you move into.  Sooner or later they will be a part of their lives.  That is the power of soccer.  They will be encountering soccer coaches from many countries.

Here on the soccer field, you will find children from the Sudan who speak no English, yet play soccer well in harmony with other players.  Soccer will your children's pathway to living in this new cross cultural world.

This website will have many tips on ways you can help your children develop the needed cross cultural communication skills.

Get some information on diversity in sports in the page on SAT Businesses & Sports Diversity.

We are offering an international soccer camp in Honduras where your children will be under the care of Honduras soccer coaches as well as coaches from other countries.  This camp will be under the supervision and control of Dr. Cross. Chris Watkins, her grandson, will be the youth leader of this camp. Coaches will be associated with Honduras Salzburg,  one of the Second Division professional soccer  teams in Honduras.

Because of her personal commitment to creating a cross cultural world, the camp will not only offer soccer training, practice and tournaments.  There will be morning classes in Spanish and trip to cross cultural sites.

EXECUTIVE SOCCER DIVERSITY EXPERIENCE WORKSHOP & GAME

This diversity learning experience is a full workshops and game.  It's designed to enable mainstream executives and managers to understand what people of color and non English speaking workers feel in the workplace.  It's a team building and self esteem building game that brings together both diversity workers and mainstream executives. It can be played either outside or inside a gym or fitness center environment.  Required equipment could be tennis shoes, portable goals and nets.
