You Are Invited To Join The TD Renewable Energy Group

Dear Friend Of A Sustainable Planet,

I would like to invite you to join my new group. It is about energy farming, wind power, biodiesel, using agricultural and forestry wastes for generating power. Power and electricity will be the most important shortfall within the next decades. We can do something about this. Especially in developing countries industries and development will be halted by the high cost of imported oil.

We can change all that by growing energy crops, as well as using wastes, making energy briquettes. Join this group. It consists of growers, small scale machinery producers, communities, entrepreneurs. I have a PhD in plant ecology and want to share my 35 years of experience in growing crops in Latin America. I want to focus on community based projects especially.

This is a group for those in developing countries who want an interactive group to share problems and ideas for successful renewable energy development. Nowhere is there more need for renewable energy projects than in the developing countries.

Of special interest is biodiesel. Vegetable oils can be grown and used for operating all kinds of vehicles, machinery, production plants and farm machinery using farm grown vegetable oils. Which species are best? Where is the best research being performed? Where can potential producers go for assistance in developing projects? What are the economic returns? Can communities get involved?

New renewable methods of energy production such as biomass energy from fast growing nitrogen fixing trees, fuel and energy briquettes from agricultural and forestry residues, small scale methane generation, ethanol from sugar cane and other crops, solar power, wind energy are all keys to needed solutions for energy in the developing countries. This group will share projects, problems and solution unique to renewable energy in developing countries.

We'll ask questions and share ideas about poor infrastructure (transportation,delivery systems for power, dirty power, poor roads, etc.)Lack of technical and business management knowhow, need for the right kind of technology transfer, increased access to up to date information, gaining business and technical skills needed to develop a successful renewable energy project in spite of untrained and undisciplined workers who create labor unrest and lower productivity, latest scientific knowhow in field and tree crops production methodologies, access to merging renewable energy technologies, difficult and often insurmountable access to credit and project financing, marketing skill development, which inhibit them from producing the energy needed for sustainable development. List members can post products and services buy and sell equipment and share success stories.

So I would ask you to join as well as share yourself through posting. Anyone is welcome. The languages are English and Spanish
