Help Poor Children Of Latin America Get The Soccer Gear They Need to Play

Soccer For Life is a Nonprofit organization dedicated to making the world’s most popular sport available to all the children of the Western Hemisphere. We intend to collect old soccer balls, shin guards, old soccer shirts and shorts, repair them, hold fund-raisers and develop training and coaching for Mexican, Honduran and Nicaraguan.  In Honduras, Soccer for Life offers the Honduras Youth Soccer Project.

Mountain Children Often Play Soccer In Rubber Boots Because They Don't Have Cleats. One Player Wore These Torn Sneakers To Play In Because They Were The Only Ones He Owned.  Please Donate Soccer Cleats and Athletic Shoes For These Youth.

There Are Two Soccer Worlds - One Soccer Community

A)  Soccer World One - The USA and other Developed Countries

B)  Soccer World Two  -  the rest of the soccer world of Africa, Latin America and Asia

Soccer World One

In Soccer World One, children have Soccer Moms who carry them to practice, purchase expensive soccer gear, send them to expensive camps, and make sure that at every game there is juice and fruit at half time.  Fathers and mothers pay to learn how to coach and spend time practicing with their children.  If they show any talents, parents may spend $40 to $50 per hour for special coaching. They get on travel teams and parents hold fundraisers to take the children to other states to play. The team enters many tournaments and children get many opportunities to play.  Every year there is a new set of uniforms, new cleats, new soccer bags, new everything.  Closets and garages fill up with old soccer gear year after year.  The kids wear soccer jewelry, use soccer jackets and play soccer video games.  The parents purchase umbrellas and deck chairs to sit in while watching the teams practice. Soccer families have made SUVs the most popular vehicle in the developed world.  Being a part of a  Soccer World One soccer family is a positive, self esteem building, empowering way of life.

Soccer World Two

The world of soccer in a country like Honduras is a different story.  There are no SUV driving soccer moms.  Indeed children come to practice alone.    There are no soccer camps, and usually the children do not own their own uniforms.  Uniforms are usually owned by the coach or teach owner who lets the players wear them during the game and collects them immediately.  There is no training for coaches. Parents never come to practice and seldom attend the games.  There are no special coaches nor is there any funds for paying them.  Parents who make $3 per day simply cannot afford it.

The kids play if they can find a coach who will be willing to pay for the $5 carnet they must have in order to a part of the Liga Menor and be enrolled with FENAFUTH. But millions play with balls made of plastic bags.  Millions play in the streets because there are no stadiums. Millions of children play without ever being coached. Most do not know the rules of the game, the kinds of kicks and have never heard of marking another player.  They only know how to kick, dribble and run with the ball, shooting when they get a chance.  Formations?  What are they?  Set plays?  What are they?

Soccer is still the center of their lives because there is nothing else for them.  There is no money for videos, Peter Pipers Pizza or Mickey D.  It's soccer at the basic level.
