American Youth Are Needed As Leaders In A World Of Want
Our planet presently has over 6
billion people and the world populations continues to grow. In the
USA and Canada, we are prosperous. People who come from other
countries marvel at our Supermarkets. They have never seen so much
food. They often live form hand to mouth. Here in Honduras
they talk about eating tortillas ( made up of only corn meal and water)
with salt because that is all they have.
Their dream is to "Go mojado" to the States. That
means crossing the Rio Grande and entering the USA illegally. That
is why Soccer for Life is developing so many programs and projects in
Honduras. We want to help Honduran develop their own small
businesses through our Youth Entrepreneurship program so they stay in
Honduras and build their lives in their own country. We feel that
the key to enabling them to stay in their own country.
We cannot solve every problem Honduras has. But we
have found that enabling kids to play soccer, to join teams, keeps them
off drugs. Our goals here are a bit more modest. Our
work is confined to the Mountain states of Intibuca and Lempira.
Our goals are: a) a
donated soccer ball for every child through the
Soccer Gear Donation Project
b) a uniform for every child through the
Soccer Gear Donation Project
c) a pair of cleats for every child through the
Soccer Gear Donation Project
d) an organized team for every child through the
Adopt a Team Project
e) soccer programs for women and girls through the
women coach program
f) a youth entrepreneurship program based on
the Recycled Athletic

A number of other social activities will be
on offered before and/or after games, so there will be no "dull" moments
during the week.
Our goal is to support organized youth and
women's soccer in Honduras. Dr. Carol Cross, founder and director of
Soccer for Life, Inc., has accepted the volunteer Director of Development for the Liga Menor
de Fútbol Intibucana, an affiliate of FENAFUTH. Intibuca is the home of the
Lenca Indians, who walk miles up and down mountainsides that are 6000-7000
in altitude. They are in condition since they often walk to town (5 -10
miles) up and down these steep hills.
The Liga Menor is operated by a group of
dedicated coaches. Two elite teams, called Atletico
Lenca and Club Deportivo Esperanzano are being developed from the best players in the Liga. These two teams are
determined to win this tournament and keep the trophy in Intibuca.
We hope to see you in
August 2008 in Florida.

hot or normal. Through Soccer For Life, our youth can build
friendships, create new ideas, develop projects to fight global warming and
change the world into a better place. It is our
feeling that everyone is seeking community, structure, meaning an a
Superordinate Goal. We consider these the requisite for a life lived for
sharing and receiving alike, supporting and being supporting, offering
comfort and being comforted. We call our "Personal Contribution To
Life".
